2 /5 Nipun Chathuranga: I have been here a few times. The first positive is that the fish itself tasted fresh and clean, and the staff were genuinely lovely.
Where it fell short for me was the balance and execution of the rolls.
All sushi is heavily coated with sauces and toppings, which often mask the fishs natural flavour instead of highlighting it as the main focus. The pieces were also quite a bit larger than I’d expect, mainly because of how much rice was used, so they felt heavy and a bit clumsy to eat in one go. On top of that, when I picked up some pieces the rice started to break away from the roll, which suggests the rolls hadn’t been packed or shaped firmly enough.
The menu looks huge at first glance, but once you read through it you realise a lot of the rolls are built from very similar combinations of ingredients with different names. Personally, I’d rather see a smaller list of specials with more distinct flavour profiles than lots of rolls that end up tasting quite alike.
