Kayla Walazek I came to the black dog because of Taylor Swift and was absolutely blown away. The vegetarian Sunday roast was incredible, the atmosphere was perfect and the service was amazing. They also sell merch including friendship bracelets, tote bags and shot glasses which is perfect for gifts for your swiftie friends.

Margarita Shalit Step through the gate and you’re instantly wrapped in a wonderfully old English atmosphere. The gardens are gorgeous—lush, carefully tended, and clearly more than just decoration. You can taste that kitchen-garden freshness on the plate: crisp greens, vibrant herbs, and produce that feels like it was picked just moments before service. The food is simple in the best way—seasonal, honest, and beautifully prepared—letting those natural flavors take center stage. Fresh berries, apple juice, honey… Service is warm and unhurried, inviting you to linger and soak in the scenery. It’s the kind of place where a long lunch feels perfectly acceptable and a stroll through the grounds afterward feels almost required. If you love garden-to-table cooking and timeless charm, this spot delivers both with grace. I asked for a recommendation for a salon to do my evening hairstyle: at one “good” hotel they handed me a list of addresses. At Gravetye, they immediately booked me an appointment at a convenient time and arranged a taxi to the salon. It’s in details like these that you feel the difference between a good hotel and a truly excellent one: initiative, attention to detail, and genuine care for the guest. Lizzie Mabbott The concept of this restaurant is guest chefs doing residencies, so the menu changes weekly. I visited when Fabrizio Ricotta was cooking and we had a lovely time. Food was delicious, especially the parmigiana Bianca, and the dessert - semi freddo with amaretti and sour cherries - was so good we ordered it three more times. The service is sweet and personable, and the space is intimate. There are a couple of large sharing tables and seats along a side bar - there aren’t (if I recall correctly) individual 2-top or 4-tops, so bear in mind when you book.

Isabella Gill Have been quite a few times to this pub and the fact it has a whole separate vegan menu is very special!! It is also very thoughtful — have had the vegan pizza, vegan nduja and vegan roast. 2 things to note — the vegan roast and vegetarian roast are both £19.50 although the vegan roast does not come with a yorkshire pudding which is disappointing — price should be changed to reflect this? also if you come on a Sunday book well in advance

Gian Marco Nolfi Everything that comes out of the kitchen is a culinary marvel. Even when the ingredients are simple, theyve been prepared and cooked to perfection, backed by what must be decennary experience. Ive come here three times, and Ive had a full English breakfast, an Eaton mess, grilled salmon with roasted vegetables, an apple crumb, an enormous chicken and avocado jacket potato, butter chicken curry and a taste of what I think was their new lemongrass cheesecake - dishes drawing from the English, Indian and French tradition, at least - and everything was just so good that (and its a rare thing in London) I sometimes stopped in order to contemplate it. Ive been in the UK for 8 years, and this comfortably large yet cosy local pub easily figures amongst the 5 best places where Ive eaten. Service was relaxed, but wonderfully honest (discouraging us from ordering more beforehand, since the portions are large) and welcoming. Recommended.
