Old Town 97 - Brentford - Hounslow
Nara Lam Popped into Old Town 97 in Brentford for a meal and it was a solid experience.
The drinks were a great start, the Iced Yuan Yang was very authentic, and the Iced Lemon Tea was refreshing with a lovely citrus fragrance.
For the mains, we tried the famous LSE Fried Rice. It’s egg fried rice topped with a smooth egg gravy and black pepper chicken chop; it had great "wok hei" and was very satisfying.
We also had the Three Meat Roast Combo (roast duck, char siu, and roast pork), which was decent and met expectations, would say the roast pork was slightly fatty.
The Salt and Pepper Squid was a real highlight, perfectly seasoned and very tasty. Squid just perfect, not too chewy.
We finished with some dim sum: the Chive Dumplings and Steamed Spare Ribs with Black Bean Sauce, both were well made and consistent.
Reliable spot for comforting Cantonese food. Will be back!
