1 /5 sian stevens: Very disappointing experience at Mountain View Curry House last night. We have been ordering here for years and it has always been our favourite takeaway, which makes this review even harder to write.
We decided to visit for Valentine’s Day and left completely shocked by the level of service. When we arrived, we were not greeted at all. When someone finally acknowledged us, she didn’t ask for our name or check our reservation. Instead, she tried to seat the two of us at a table for six. I declined and asked if we could sit upstairs, and she said yes.
We began following a member of staff upstairs, but they disappeared halfway, leaving us standing there unsure of what to do. Eventually, we just sat ourselves. Fifteen minutes later, someone finally came to take our drinks order. At that point, I had to tell him that we would also need food menus, as none had been offered.
After receiving our drinks, we then waited a further 45 minutes for someone to take our food order. By this stage, I had completely lost patience. We asked for the bill for our drinks and decided to leave.
It was clear the staff were completely rushed off their feet, but that does not excuse the lack of basic service. If they were that overwhelmed, they should have stopped taking online orders rather than neglecting customers who were dining in.
To make matters worse, there was absolutely no service recovery. Given the awful experience, they could have at least offered to cover the cost of our drinks as a gesture of goodwill. Instead, we paid and left feeling completely ignored.
This was without doubt the worst service I have ever experienced. It was extremely disappointing, especially from a place that has been our go-to takeaway for years. Sadly, we will not be returning.
