3 /5 Vytautas Merkelis: I booked a table at The Third Monkey for Valentine’s Day and unfortunately the experience was disappointing.
We skipped starters and ordered the Chateaubriand for two (£65 per person), which was stated to require a 45-minute cooking time. Surprisingly, it arrived in around 5 minutes, well before the wine we had ordered. We asked for medium, but the beef came out very pink—closer to rare. While it was tender, my girlfriend didn’t enjoy it.
For ÂŁ130, the portion and sides felt underwhelming: a Caesar-style salad and two very small portions of chips. Considering this is Farnham and not central London, we expected better value.
Dessert was the highlight—the sticky toffee pudding was excellent and well priced. However, the single espresso I ordered was served more like a ristretto.
I do want to note that the service was good, and our waitress was friendly, attentive, and professional throughout the evening.
We arrived at 19:15 and left by 20:10, and for Valentine’s Day the whole experience felt rushed rather than relaxed or special.
Overall, it didn’t meet our expectations. We were looking forward to a romantic evening and were surprised that the entire experience felt quicker than ordering a takeaway.
