Cynthia Mon If you are going for £10.99 drinks exclusive(no more extra charge), you will get what is worth 10.99. I will break it down into categories and make a review based on £10.99 buffet.I only had Chinese and Thai food this time. The following review is Asian approved. Food variety- More variety to choose from in Chinese section. I didn’t see much in Indian or other Italian dishes. Taste-Pork in black bean sauce and pork ribs were my favorites. Spring rolls and Noodles were also tasty. I enjoyed Tofu and Chinese cabbage. Way better than London’s Chinese buffet restaurant. This one is legit. Sushi- rice is good but the taste is bare minimum. Soup- only corn soup is available. I wish they put more for soup . Fruits and desserts- they are really nice. I loved their cakes and ice-cream. Dinner buffet would be pricier but comes in more variety than the lunch one. Restaurant size and decoration- it is bigger inside than it looks outside. Cleaneliness- they keep it very clean with very often cleaning at the food station. Overall, You will definitely get what you paid for. The taste is not blend at all for Chinese food. I don’t know about the rest. Some place might sell this for £15. Make a reservation one day in advance to avoid 20min-long walk-in queue .

Vee Tablet What a fabulous little find. We were passing by looking for a cafe and someone recommended this lovely little cafe. Not only is this a little gem but all the staff here have been wonderful, welcoming and attentive. We have the pleasure of sitting outside in the sun enjoying the breakfast, at a fantastic price! Literally couldn’t beat the price and proper fried toast. Delicious! And a little playground for the kids to run around when the food is being prepped. Loved the experienced and the cafe project. Really impressed that we could support this fantastic establishment

Raai - Traditional Indian Street Food -

Rating: 4.8 /5
Kapil Varshney Went to Raai in Basingstoke, and let me tell you… my inner Desi Dad was VERY impressed. And trust me, impressing a Desi Dad with restaurant food is harder than passing CA exams. First of all, the prices. Arre wah! Reasonable. Sensible. Pocket-friendly. For once I ate outside without calculating ‘yeh ghar pe bana lete toh…’ in my head. Now the food: • Pav Bhaji: Perfectly buttery. Spicy enough to wake your senses but not your ancestors. • Vada Pav: FINALLY, a vada pav that doesn’t taste like mashed potato pretending to be from Mumbai. This one had personality. • Masala Dosa: Crispy, golden, and made me temporarily forget I’m in Basingstoke and not wandering somewhere in South India looking for filter coffee. • Veg Thali: VALUE. FOR. MONEY. Portions so generous even my inner Gujarati approved. Everything tasted like it was made by someone who isn’t afraid of spices — God bless them. Service? Fast. No unnecessary attitude. No one hovering around waiting to snatch your plate the moment you take the last bite. Desi Dad approves. Overall: Good food, good quantity, good prices. If you’re in Basingstoke and want proper desi street-food vibes without taking out a loan, Raai is the place. Will I go again? Bilkul. Maybe I’ll even take the kids… if they behave.

Peter Barratt A Hampshire curry house with a difference, Chennai Express is a welcome change from the norm! South India style, with lovely spice mixtures, and a very varied menu, with lots of vegetarian and pescatarian options. The dosas are great - the size of a roll of wallpaper with delicious sauces and chutneys. The service is great too, and theres an eclectic mix of customers in this cosy but modern little restaurant. Ill be back!
