5 /5 dacostadoes: As someone who genuinely believes breakfast is the most important meal of the day—despite current food trends—this quaint, homely café in the heart of Muswell Hill really reinforces that belief.
I want to start by saying the service is outstanding. Not in a stiff fine-dining way, but in terms of attentiveness—it’s genuinely exceptional. The staff are bright, bubbly, and very switched on, which immediately sets the tone.
As you walk through the pastel green doorway, you’re greeted by hanging flower pots, hard wooden floors, and the comfortable hum of conversation. The booths and tables are well spaced, and the hostess greets you with real warmth. We were seated swiftly at a comfy bar table with plenty of room, which instantly made us feel at ease.
The menu is refreshing and well thought out, blending flavours from different world cultures. It actually reminded me of a better version of Giraffe back when it was in its prime.
Full English? Check.
Middle Eastern platter? Check.
Hugo’s Rancheros (my choice and highly recommended)? Absolutely—paired with their fresh detox smoothie.
The ingredients are fresh, the food comes out quickly, and everything feels genuinely made with care. I was very impressed. My girlfriend’s avocado on toast was freshly smashed, topped with perfectly poached eggs—simple, but done properly.
I’ll definitely be coming back, and I’d recommend Bob’s Café to anyone in the area without hesitation.
