1 /5 Sharlene Hsia: We came for a Christmas Eve dinner, looking forward to a special and happy evening. Unfortunately, the experience ended on a very disappointing note when we checked the bill. The red wine I ordered was charged at ÂŁ26 instead of the ÂŁ20 wine I clearly requested. When I mentioned this, the staff said that the ÂŁ26 wine had been served, even though I am certain I ordered the ÂŁ20 option.
Upon reviewing the bill more carefully, we also discovered that the ÂŁ72 dry-aged ribeye we ordered had been charged as a ÂŁ96 US steak. The price difference between these two items alone was nearly ÂŁ30. Mistakes like this are deeply upsetting, especially in a restaurant that presents itself as a higher-end dining experience.
After raising the issue, the steak price was corrected. However, the wine charge was not adjusted. As the wine had already been finished and there was no practical way to verify it, I chose to pay rather than continue arguing, even though I never intended to order the more expensive wine.
What saddened me most was not just the money, but the feeling of helplessness at the end of what should have been a joyful evening. I sincerely hope the restaurant will reflect on this experience, improve internal communication and billing accuracy, and ensure that future guests do not leave feeling the same disappointment.
I also gently remind other diners to carefully check their bill before payment.
