EVE - (Near Kensington and Chelsea, South East)

1 /5 Koeun Lee: This was my third visit today, and I will never come back again. The reason is the consistently long waiting times caused by the staff’s lack of attention, which I experienced on all three visits. During my previous two visits, I already found the servers to be inattentive and slow, which was inconvenient. However, I returned because I liked the interior and the atmosphere. I thought I had just been unlucky the first two times, but today it became clear that this place simply lacks basic service standards. Once again, after being shown to my table, no server came to take my order, and I had to call them several times. It took more than 30 minutes after being seated before a server finally came to take our order. We ordered two dishes and two beers. The beers were served right away, but the two dishes did not arrive together and were served with a noticeable delay between them. After finishing our meal, we waited a long time for the bill. Even though we kept looking toward the staff, no one paid attention, so I eventually had to go to the bar myself and ask to pay. At the time we wanted to pay, there were only a few tables occupied in the dining area (photo attached). In general, none of the staff seemed to pay attention to the customers in the restaurant- even I felt they purposely ignore. I simply cannot understand how basic tasks like taking orders and processing payment can be so difficult, or why customers are made to wait for so long. On top of that, being charged a service fee despite receiving no real service felt very unpleasant and quite rude.

2 /5 Charlotte Denman: Dining at Eve was disappointing. Despite being excited by the menu and Instagram photos, from the moment we walked in we did not feel welcomed or valued. We were at the restaurant for a total of two hours, during which we had extremely limited engagement from any staff members. We had to wave them down to ask for more drinks, cutlery, plates, and condiments. Our dirty dishes stayed on our table for 30 minutes, at which point we cleared them ourselves. When we asked about dessert, we were told the kitchen was closed, which had never been explained to us. The staff lacked initiative and friendliness, often walking around without purpose. It seemed they actively avoided eye contact, delivering drinks to some tables while walking away from others empty-handed. The food looked appealing and was presented nicely, but it lacked quality. Many dishes were lukewarm or seemed to have been sitting for some time. The pizza was not piping hot, the pasta was dry on the surface, and even the fries were only warm. While the portions were reasonable, the execution fell short of expectations. For an 8pm Saturday night dinner date, we were expecting a fun and lively environment, but the atmosphere felt dull and awkward. The music was too quiet, so conversations could easily be overheard, the restaurant was cold, and the seating was uncomfortable. The layout seemed designed more for Instagram photos than for a practical dining experience, with low, soft seats placing us at different heights. Overall, Eve had potential, but poor service and inconsistent food quality made the experience frustrating. We left with a bill of £130 for two people but did not feel satisfied with the quality of food or service.

4 /5 Meg Byrne: The managers at the restaurant and cafe are amazing, and Rose in the cafe is very detail oriented, quick to get to customer needs. The food is great quality and well presented. During my stay at the hotel (Ember Locke) attached to EVE, the F&B staff seemed overwhelmed, long weight times for food and a number of staff not very proactive for a restaurant atmosphere (standing around until manager directs them what to do). John was fantastic and really handled the low staffing issues with a smile and proactive communication so guests understood why service was taking so long. If you are in a rush, this is not your place, but if you are up for a relaxing, beautiful atmosphere with great music then you will enjoy the space.
