2 /5 TwoSarus: TLDR: Friendly staff and decent cooking, but mistakes, lack of value, and an awkward dining experience overshadowed the meal.
We stopped by Zero Sette during Pokémon EUIC, initially enquiring about dinner while passing at lunchtime. Staff were very polite and accommodating, offering us a 6pm slot ahead of a larger booking. Gluten-free guidance was delivered confidently, with gluten-free pasta alternatives available — reassuring for coeliac diners.
Arrival & Atmosphere:
On returning for dinner, the restaurant was completely empty. We were seated promptly, though the table location felt oddly exposed rather than cosy or private. Being the only diners created a slightly uncomfortable atmosphere.
Drinks & Starters:
We tried Pokémon-themed cocktail specials which, unfortunately, were not to our taste at all. A caprese salad to share was pleasant but unremarkable.
Mains & Service Issue:
I ordered sirloin steak while my partner chose lamb, with sides ordered separately (worth noting that proteins do not include accompaniments). When the dishes arrived, I was served a fillet rather than sirloin.
Initially this was incorrectly confirmed as sirloin, before another staff member clarified it was indeed fillet. As we did not want delays or food waste, I kept the dish. Disappointingly, nothing was adjusted on the bill despite the error, and service was already included — which made the handling of the mistake feel somewhat poor.
Food Quality:
The proteins were competently cooked, though the steak was under-seasoned. Sides were acceptable, with the mash being the standout, albeit expensive for what it was.
Value for Money:
This is where the experience struggled most. The overall bill exceeded £130 for two mains, sides, cocktails, and water. While the food was decent, the pricing felt difficult to justify relative to the quality and experience delivered.
Overall:
Staff were courteous and the kitchen capable, but the combination of pricing, the uncorrected order mistake, and an awkwardly empty setting made this a disappointing visit. Regrettably, not somewhere we would return to.
