What Clients Are Saying The Cod Father Fish & Chips (GG)
5 /5 Susie Wong: WOW amazing new fish & chip shop with something a bit different! My family love the scampi & battered sausage. I had a beautiful bit of battered skate wing - you could taste it was fresh - I work in catering and I love fish - I will defo have again! The chips were chunky & crunchy and it was all freshly cooked while we waited. Nice owner too! Keep up the good work!
5 /5 Nigel Parry: This shop has only recently reopened (formerly Salt & Vinegar) now renamed The Codfather with new owners.
Please note the less favourable reviews from over a year ago do not relate to the new owners or trading name.
Superb fish & Chips. Cooked to perfection. The homemade fish cakes are out of this world. An added bonus of Gluten Free on Tuesday & Wednesday plus they do my favourite fish Skate. Fish is also cooked to order so its always fresh & hot plus not greasy like many other shops.
Lovely guys very friendly & welcoming.
5 /5 Andy: Easily the best Fish & Chips is South Lancing. Cod father opened around summer of 2022 so reviews before that should be scrapped.
We ordered online and collected, food was good, not swimming in oil and you could tell it was fresh. Everyone enjoyed their food although the mushy peas were a bit of a miss
5 /5 Sam Stanley: Finally tried this chippy tonight, very happy I did!
I had the cod and wife had a jumbo sausage meal, kids both had sausage meals as well and they all loved it. Chips were great but the fish was perfect! Great value for money.
Service was impeccable as wel, friendly and welcoming. A great addition to the lancing high street
3 /5 M J: We used this place for the first time today. We first phoned to order, but nobody responded!! We decided to drive to the shop. Although the quality of the fish and the chips was excellent, there are some disappointing issues:
1)there is no option to choose the size of fish you want.
2) chips come as a unit with the fish and there is no option to choose the portion size separately, or no chips at all. As it happens in our case with the portion of chips allocated to one of us it was sufficient for both! The way their menu has been set up will lead to food waste.
3) too much packaging and rather posh. This makes the take away quite expensive in comparison with what other fish and chip places charge. The cardboard boxes are such a waste because they cannot be recycled as they get dirty with the oil from the food. It would be a much cheaper option and just as efficient to use paper.
Martyn Hickson Got a meal from Pedro’s food truck and it was delicious! Super authentic, great portion and best of all Pedro is one of the friendliest people you can meet. You can tell when someone is passionate about the food they cook.
Others in the group opted to get pizza and all wished they’d gone to Pedro’s when they saw my meal. Highly recommended.
Anne Margaret White Stopped in for a pint before seeing the Christmas lights. Loved the holiday specials. Decorations also added a festive flair. Great place to watch sports with all of the huge TVs about. Looked popular with the after work crowd, but we felt comfortable as tourists joining in the merriment.
Luke Stock Propa pies and propa filling. Game pie and leek, potato and cheese pie. The gravy was crazy flavoursome. Mash looked like it was left out for a while but it was moist and buttery to the taste.
Live jazz band on a Saturday afternoon was a bonus. Service was slow and a little inattentive.
Painting by Southgate (the artist) were beautiful.
S Y No seating, quick ordering via self service screen, amazing healthy sandwich salad and hot food options also general cafe drinks coffee and matcha. Food prepared quickly, had steak Benedict which was amazing, would try other dishes again
