5 /5 Ian Needs: Buenos Aires: A Steak Lover’s Paradise (and Sweet Potato Heaven)
If you’re after quick, attentive service without the waiter hovering like a drone, Buenos Aires nails it. The staff strike that perfect balance between friendly and professional — they know their steaks, they know their wines, and they won’t make you feel bad for ordering yours well done.
Speaking of steaks — they’re consistently spot-on, whether you’re a die-hard medium rare fan or one of those mysterious people who like it cooked to the core. Pair it with their out-of-this-world sweet potato fries (seriously, you’ll consider making a meal of just those), and the best béarnaise sauce this side of France. Add a side of chilli broccoli and you’re laughing.
Starters? Get the empanadas. Especially the spinach ones — they’re so good you’ll forget you’re voluntarily eating spinach. The atmosphere is laid-back and unpretentious, which is just how we like it when unbuttoning our jeans after three courses.
Round it all off with a solid dessert menu and an espresso martini that’ll wake you up just in time to order another.
Highly recommend — just be prepared to dream about those sweet potato fries for days.
