4 /5 Tim Weller: Away from the main drag, you wouldnt stumble on this place by accident, but worth discovering. Characteristically attentive and charming people, and authentic Thai dishes served in an... interesting setting. Id say its highly flammable interior decor must be a shocking dust trap but ignoring that and the Food Hygiene rating of 4...
... I had a vegetable tempura. Not the crispiest tempura for miles around but the vegetables seemed fresh. Interesting to have onion in there, the dipping sauce was per standard but with added chilli flakes (possibly because Id requested an extra hot main). Veg/tofu Massaman was good, the sauce was super thin but this is more like the sauces Ive had in Thailand than the thickened affairs expected in the UK, so I was good with it as the flavour was there. Had the coconut rice which was rich and a good complement for the sauce. Really surprised to find mango sticky rice was a) on the menu and b) available. So rare to find ticks for both in the UK, and it was delicious.
Im hoping the oils a bit hotter for the tempura next time as Ill be back... with my dog, as apparently theyre welcome too!!
