Taro - Balham - (Near , london)

Fiona Lee Tried this for lunch today and loved everything about it. The owner was so friendly, the decor is relaxed and comfortable, and the menu has a great selection. There’s a lovely drinks menu too which suggests which dishes would work well with some of the wines - a nice touch. We ordered some garlic bread to start, and then I ordered the Linguine Alla Carbonara and my husband ordered the “Anatra” duck breast. Everything was delicious. Portion sizes were generous and the flavours were fantastic. We’ll most definitely be back to try some more dishes! The restaurant was quite busy for a Tuesday lunchtime, which was great to see! Wishing the Belluno team all the very best - they deserve to have success with this restaurant.

Ilona Thompson We had an excellent meal here which was a lovely surprise as the pub wasn’t our first choice. Everything was good, hot and filling. We were catching the ferry to Bilbao and had picked another restaurant but it was shut and we found the Dolphin instead. I must say I’m glad we did! Dave the manager was very friendly and helpful, telling us about a quicker route to the ferry terminal. Thanks Dave and next time we’re in Portsmouth we’ll be sure to call in.

I Am Transport Love the place. Only discovered a couple of weeks ago and am already on my second visit despite slicing half an hour away. Havent eaten here yet but intend to soon. Great atmosphere and friendly happy staff.

Seiriol Dawes-Hughes High quality food served by charming staff in a classy setting. Great location for a pre-theatre meal. The schnitzel was great and the shared souffle was well worth the wait and made for a fun end to the meal. It was quite pricey but this is central London after all and it felt like a great. It got rather noisy towards the end of our meal as the place filled up to capacity. But would definitely return for a pre-theatre meal in the West End

Alexey Subach Exceptional experience with their special Valentine’s Day tasting menu. The interior was nice, the staff were friendly and welcoming, the cutlery and crockery were really great. The bread with leek butter were simply amazing - the bread was warm and custom made and the butter was uncommon and delicious. The scallop croustade was good although the flavour was a bit on the simpler side (classic scallop and citrus combination) - still a good starter. Tuna tartare was amazing, halibut dish wasn’t perfect as the fish was overcooked in my opinion but the sauce was out of this world and put everything in order. The duck breast was truly great as well - tender with a crusty skin and paired well with the beetroot which wasn’t overly earthy. The dessert - chocolate mousse - was a bit on the simpler side and the crusty but was a bit too hard but still the balance was there and this was a pleasant dish with a nice twist of burnt grapefruit. Overall, this is one of those experiences where the value for money is clear. Forest cocktail was great - the flavours were rich and silky. The only small downside was that the cream on the top was a bit difficult to sip with the cocktail itself. All in all, a great place which I recommend especially for occasions when they have those tasting menus as the chef is really talented.

E T In our evening attempt without booking, it was so quick to give us a table and starting with a drink straight away. I am going to this restaurant quite a lot and I havent seen any downwards in their service. I highly recommend it. Their outdoor sitting area in summer is very popular. Make sure to reserve your table for a meal on busy weekends or Christmas/new years eve. Its absolutely suitable for birthday gathering.
