4 /5 Laura FVC: I went for lunch and asked for the Risotto that was priced at £16 in the lunch menu options. I paired with a nice glass of Pinotage. Both the wine and the food were lovely. After paying the bill and walking out, I realised that I was charged over £19 for the Risotto, plus £1 for charity + £12.5% tip. I walked back and enquired the bill. The guy gave me both the difference of the Risotto and the £1 of the Charity back, although I had told him beforehand to keep the money of the charity but normally its good practice to ask if one wants to pay it or not. He replied that people normally dont get asked about the discretionary tip. This became an argument as In 16 years I have been living in the UK Ive never had the Charity money automatically added to the bill. I can see that someone else raised this issue before in the reviews, so I suggest the Management to stop automatically adding to the bill bit give clients the option, like shops do.
All this is a shame as I would have liked to go back both for the food an even more so for the wine, but having to have arguments over the bill and extra charges doesnt make it worth it.
Lunch was quiet as there were no many people when I went.
