2 /5 Daniel Toeuk: The food quality here was genuinely good. I had the Lamb Biryani, and the lamb was exceptionally tender, the rice was perfectly cooked, and the seasoning was excellent overall. The accompanying vegetarian curry was also very flavourful and satisfying. The portion size was quite large (almost too large to finish). Service itself was great, attentive, and quick.
However, the experience was significantly marred by the price and misleading charges, which is why I cannot recommend this restaurant.
The Issues:
Overpriced: At £23 for a Biryani, the price is simply excessive for food that, while nice, was not groundbreaking. I regularly find meals of similar quality and portion size in London for around half that cost.
Hidden Charges: I was immediately offered a small serving of popadoms, which the server distinctly stated were "complimentary." I was then charged £1 each for them on the final bill. I would not have accepted them had I known there was a cost.
Charged for Tap Water: To my surprise, I was also charged for two glasses of tap water. I have never been charged for tap water at any restaurant before.
My total bill came to £27. Its no wonder the restaurant was completely empty (all of the restaurants in the area were packed)—a red flag I should have heeded before entering. While the food was enjoyable, the combination of high prices and unexpected fees makes this place a very poor value.
