Mango Thai Tapas - Above Bar - (Near , South East)

5 /5 Richard Wilson: The service here is excellent, and the staff are always willing to give their customers tips on the best Thai food to eat. We had a selection of tapas, along with a golden Thai chicken curry. The best dishes, by far, were the Golden curry and prawn drunken noodles. The curry tasted like it was made from scratch and was full of subtle spices. The noodles, too, were beautifully spiced and made a great accompliment to virtually all of the main dishes. One slight letdown was the Thai pork salad; the meat was quite dry and really chewy. We had eaten this here before previously and the pork had been tender and moist. Another not so great dish was the sweet and sour pork skewers. These were overcooked and somewhat burnt. The chicken satay sauce was delightful, although somewhat disappointingly, the meatballs were no more than ok, lacking any real depth in Asian flavours. Being a bit picky, the restaurant is very hot during the summer months, with only a free standing fan and no air-conditioning. That said, overall, this was a really nice place to eat Thai food and I am looking forward to returning here soon. Update: we went back to Mango today and a big shout out to Beth, who also looked after us last time. She not only remembered our drinks order from several weeks ago, but she also recalled that our Thai pork salad wasnt great. This time she was sure that it would be so much better, and in fact it was excellent, as were our other dishes. Because of Beths excellent service and fabulous meals this time, I have upgraded my rating of Mango Thai Tapas from 4 stars to 5 stars.

4 /5 Finnuala Q: Nice tapas the best one is the dumplings and others were nice but needed more zing. The wine selection was good but prices tend to be a bit steep after the cheapest bottle. The curry was nice with fresh ingredients but not the hottest thing for two chilis. Flavours were very nice and the coconut rice had coconut flakes on top. Not clear that it was separate so it could be good for it to be a shared rice to avoid spending a lot on rice. Cocktails were tasty but not very strong. Overall amazing service and very cosy atmosphere.

5 /5 Davina Morris: Lovely atmosphere & food and great Staff! I would like to give Fran and Beth a big shoutout, as I have a shell fish allergy and they were brilliant with my order, a couple of dishes I attempted to order they went away and came back and advised that there was an ingredient that did contain shellfish so I could change my order! - this is the first time a restaurant has paid that much attention to the allergy! It showed me they really cared for their customers and also the kitchen staff knew there ingredients! Totally recommend this place for dinner and drinks!!

5 /5 Beth Adkins: The food was delicious - my mum and I had the 4 for 3 Tapas at lunch time. It was delicious - our favourite was the veggie spring rolls. Jack was very attentive, and personable. We will be back!!! Thanks, Mango!

5 /5 Bethan Davies: Absolutely lovely restaurant- couldn’t recommend more. We ended up being half an hour late for our reservation (we called up to let them know) as as well as keeping our table for us, they checked how long we had ahead of the theatre and made sure to serve us promptly and help us fit in a delicious meal into the time we had. Every staff member we met was super friendly and made us feel extremely welcome. And the food was really good - I’m just sorry I didn’t take any photos, because it looked great, but we were all too busy inhaling it. The squid was a big favourite, as were the mango corn cakes. Portions are generous too - we had 7 tapas dishes and two curries between 4 and had left overs. Also they are really good for gluten free options - we were able to get quite a few things, more than we were expecting!
