What Clients Are Saying The Black Boy Headington (GG)
5 /5 ChinHwei Yong: Had lunch here last Sunday.
Food was wonderful. Started with Whole Baked Camembert with Garlic & Rosemary. Mains were Roast Loin of Pork with Crackling and Cotswold Roast Leg of Lamb. The pork loin was cooked beautifully - succulent, juicy & tender, with an additive pork crackling. The lamb was done perfectly. A wonderful Sunday Roast lunch when paired with a snooth stout.
Recommended.
5 /5 Ryan Barlow: We had a 84th Birthday party on a Sunday, so most people went for the roast or fish and chips bote were amazing and the service was excellent. We will definitely be going back.
5 /5 Sarah Pickup: The staff here are outstanding! Shout out to Katie who helped us find a parking space in the pub’s parking area by moving her own car! She also helped us before we arrived by a detailed check of accessibility considerations in view of my husband’s disability. We were also assisted with getting our bags both up and down stairs. Bedroom very clean. Food excellent and atmosphere is warm and friendly. Neil, who served breakfast was also excellent. All 5 star ratings apart from location which we gave a 4 star, purely because of our initial difficulty finding a parking space due to some residents parking nearby, but please note that this was an issue for us due to limited mobility.
5 /5 ron gauld: Excellent traditional pub with rooms. Very good bar menu at reasonable prices. The breakfast was equally excellent. Friendly and helpful staff made for a memorable stay.
VENKATESH GANTASALA I recently visited this pub and had an amazing experience! The ambience was warm and welcoming, and the food was absolutely mouth-watering. A special shoutout to Head Chef Diogo and Sous Chef Nithik – their culinary talent, teamwork, and kind nature truly stood out. They made the entire dining experience unforgettable.
Hands down, the best pub I’ve been to! Highly recommended!
Alan Benham I took advantage of a “free” park up in my self contained campervan in the car park at the rear of the property. As had about 6 other vans / Motorhomes. The car park is hard standing and flat. Toilets & wifi are available whilst the pub is open. I ate and drank in the pub and found the food to be tasty & well priced, as was the beer. There was a really good friendly ambience in the pub. I’d highly recommend a visit to the Red Lion whether you’re staying overnight or not.
sophia we had the loveliest visit this easter sunday - we ordered two (massive!!) roasts and left stuffed!! the food was delicious and the view was even better!! their garden is huge and full of tables on both levels and the view is just stunning. a real hidden gem just 15mins from oxford, with plenty of circular walks around the local countryside (there is a map outside the pub). a 10/10 pub in a gorgeous small town - can highly recommend! thank you so much to all the team!!
Eswar S Amazing food quality. Chicken Mappas dish is top notch. Service needs improvement during busy schedule. Good location and good taste for all dishes. Sulaimani (Black Tea) brings in the authenticity of Kerala. Over all 5 Star rating from me.
Danni Fraser Better than the seaside fish and chips and the portions were huge! Worth every penny.
Definitely will be returning and definitely recommend.
The staff were so lovely and friendly as well
