Forest Gump Great stretch of sand for walking, running and doggy walks (Oct to March only). Check tide times so you can arrive at low tide to best enjoy the whole length of the beach, through to Broadstairs even, before the tide comes back in.

Ari K Ashkenazi It so happened that we were visiting Ramsgate today. I did not know about this shul until I saw it from afar. At first I could not believe my eyes, as I thought I was seeing a shul, but then I doubted myself, thinking that there could not possibly be one here. Apparently, visits must be prearranged, so we shall certainly return.

Ian Atkinson Amazing when lit up at Christmas. Great walk around the harbour and a new Christmas tradition. We loved seeing the effort that had gone into lighting up the boats. It was a really magical sight and we always finish the evening off with a drink and meal at one of the many restaurants near by. Thanks to all involved.

Andrew Thomas Extensive network of underground tunnels cut into Ramsgates chalk cliffs in 1939 in precaution for air raids, which you can visit today as part of a guided tour. Tours run every 2 hours and last around 90 minutes. Its advisable to bring warm clothes as youll be underground for the duration. Our guide was very knowledgeable and made the tour engaging and informative. For £10 the tour represents good value, longer than many shorter cave tours Ive taken. The former railway tunnel through which you enter the system is fitted out with "rooms", reflecting the spaces in which people would have lived while sheltering from WW2 bombing raids. At their peak, the tunnels housed over 1,000 people. Theres a large exhibition area that you can look around before or after your tunnels tour, with detailed displays charting the planning, construction and history of the tunnels, and artefacts found in the tunnels. Onsite facilities include a traditional tearoom providing refreshments in the atmospheric tunnel setting, and a gift shop. Theres paid parking very nearby but no onsite toilets. Dogs are permitted in the exhibition area but not in the tunnels.

One more step along the world This historic vessel now sits in Ramsgate harbour. It was originally built for the admiralty during WWII. She was later decommissioned and converted to a fishing trawler. A boatbuilder later bought her and carried out restoration works. K K The Sailors Church was built in the mid 19th century to minister to the the men and boys who fished out of Ramsgate, and to provide accommodation for the fishing apprentices (also known as Smack Boys) and emergency space for shipwrecked sailors. The church itself is essentially rectangular and occupies the ground floor of the three-floor building. The rooms above, and the building next door, originally served as living quarters. The interior of the church is quite plain.

Sam Rowe Lovely park. Toilets are clean. Caffe is reasonably priced and well kept. The play areas are great for the kids to enjoy. There is a model railway which looks fun though it was closed when we went. I was fascinated by the Ramsgate tunnels that apparently were dug in the 1930’s under the park all the way to the cliffs. Parking looks like it could be a challenge as it’s on street. I’m told it has a green flag award. Easily accessible with buggies and could be used by a wheelchair if you don’t mind a few hills.
